Gillian has returned to the RMT profession after a long hiatus working in the business/corporate world. Her passion for health and active lifestyles has brought her full circle back to a profession where she feels she can really connect with her community and the people in it.

Gillian’s treatment approach is informed by her understanding of how body, breath, mind, and spirit all work together and impact our physical state. She has a holistic view of health care and believes true healing and pain management must consider all aspects of a patient’s life.

Gillian works with soft tissue and myofascial applications, neuromuscular techniques, and pain and stress management. She is trained as a traditional hatha yoga, yoga nidra, and kriya meditation teacher and she enjoys showing her clients how to use the breath to help to calm the mind and bring about deep states of relaxation.

When should I see a massage therapist?

It may be a good idea to consider registered massage therapy if:

  • You are experiencing any muscle pain that has a negative impact on your life and regular activities.
  • You are recovering from an injury or surgery and would like to increase mobility and support healing.
  • You would like to better manage stress and tension.
  • You would like to experience a deep sense of relaxation and overall well being.
What will my initial massage therapy treatment be like?

When you book your first appointment, you will be emailed a link to complete a patient intake form. This form will ask you for some basic health information and the reason for your visit. Please complete this form online before you arrive to your first treatment. Any information you provide is confidential and will be safeguarded. Filling out the intake form in advance helps to ensure you receive the best massage therapy experience possible and to maximize your time on the treatment table.

Consent is a very important part of massage therapy and it is important that you, as the patient, understand that you are in control. At your first appointment, your RMT will discuss with you an overall treatment plan and will provide an overview of what she believes would be the most effective course of treatment. This will involve obtaining consent to treat specific areas of the body, a discussion about what clothes you are comfortable removing and how you will be draped (covered with sheets or blankets) during the treatment. Your therapist will temporarily leave the room to allow you to undress and get onto the table. All massage techniques can be done over clothing or sheets and the level to which you choose to undress is up to you.

If at any point, you feel uncomfortable or unsure about what is happening, you are empowered to express your concerns with your therapist. You may revoke consent at any time. We encourage you to let your therapist know if she is using too much pressure or if there is an area that you would like her to pay more attention to.

What time should I arrive for my appointment?

Although it is important that you arrive on time for your appointment, Tejas Healing does not provide a lobby or waiting area, therefore please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Arriving more than 5 minutes after your scheduled appointment will result in a decrease of treatment time.

How do I use online booking?

At Tejas Healing we use an online booking software called Jane App to make it easy  for you to book your massage therapy appointments online.

Once you login, you can easily see which appointment times are available and choose when you would like to book.

"As someone who has done very little yoga, I came in to this a bit hesitant that I might not be able to do it. Gillian was amazing, supportive and kind. Her calmness throughout the class made me feel at ease and comfortable. The class was well led and so very relaxing."

"I've been seeing Gillian for massage therapy for over two years now. Her expertise at listening to what my body is complaining about means that I leave every session feeling so much better. I have finally found relief from my constant tension headaches and frozen shoulder."

"Gillian's yoga and meditation classes have equipped me with the ability to ride the waves off stress in my life with a sense of calm and peace. I've already been able to apply what I've learned to my daily life."

I’m terrible at yoga; I’m not flexible at all.

“I’m terrible at yoga, I’m not flexible at all.” I hear this so often from people when they find out I teach yoga and it makes me both sad and excited. Sad because it is a reflection of how yoga has been defined in the modern world -- as a fitness regime for...
